Shoot The Rock! April 4 NBA Edition – Latest Betting News and Tips

April 4th NBA – Latest Betting News and Tips

The NBA playoffs are just over a week away. Let’s cover some ground and see what we can dig up.

Detroit Has a Historical Season

At this time, the Detroit Pistons are 42-34 and in a battle with Milwaukee for the #5 and #6 slots in the Eastern Conference. What is notable about those 42 victories is that last season, the Pistons won only 14 games. In NBA history, no team has ever tripled their win total from one season to the next like Detroit. This is the Pistons’ first winning season since 2015-16 and just their second winning campaign in 17 years!

Why Don’t We Just Bet Oklahoma City Every Game?

Though different places will have slightly varied numbers, we have Oklahoma City at 49-27-1 ATS for +19.4 units of profit for this campaign. The next closest team is Cleveland at +11 units.

At this juncture, the Thunder are +13.7 PPG scoring differential, which would be the largest in NBA history. The current all-time leaders are these.

 Previous Record Holders:

1970-71 Milwaukee Bucks: +12.26

1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers: +12.28

1995-96 Chicago Bulls: +12.24

All three of these teams won NBA titles.

Sizing Up the Eastern Conference Playoff Picture

Cleveland, Boston, New York, and Indiana are locked in 1 thru 4. As mentioned, Detroit and Milwaukee are battling for the No. 5 and No. 6NBA,NBA Playoffs,NBA Betting,Doug Upstone,Detroit Pistons,OKC Thunder,Betting News,Oklahoma City,Eastern Conference Playoff Picture,Western Conference Playoff Picture spots. It appears that the outcome will be determined next week when these clubs face each other in a home-and-home series beginning next Friday in the Motor City.

7 – Orlando 38-40

8 – Atlanta 36-40

9 – Miami 35-42

10 – Chicago 34-42

For the Play-Ins, #7 hosts #8, and #9 welcomes in #10. Though the home-court advantage means less, especially with such poor records, the preference is still to play at home to take your best shot. That’s why it bears watching the Magic and Hawks the next week, and they will play twice starting Tuesday in Orlando.

The Bulls will try to stay even with Miami, as on Wednesday, they will play host to the Heat in the Windy City.

Sizing Up the Western Conference Playoff Picture

After Oklahoma, this is what spots 2 to 6 look like. NBA,NBA Playoffs,NBA Betting,Doug Upstone,Detroit Pistons,OKC Thunder,Betting News,Oklahoma City,Eastern Conference Playoff Picture,Western Conference Playoff Picture

2 – Houston – 50-27

3 – Denver – 47-30

4 – LA Lakers – 46-30

5- Golden State – 45-31

T6 – Memphis/Minnesota – 45-32

As you can see, it looks like a Los Angeles freeway.  Houston has won eight of 10 and is in good shape if they keep winning, but they have five nasty games remaining, including a three-game road to face both L.A. clubs and at Golden State.

By losing 4 of 10, Denver has slid to a virtual tie with the Lakers with 30 defeats, and as we’ve mentioned previously, only two teams not seeded 1 to 3 in their conference have won an NBA title.

The Lakers will be on the road four times in a half dozen contests, including a back-to-back at the Thunder. Will OKC want to make a statement or rest players? Playing at home to the Rockets next Friday might have major implications.

Golden State has Denver and Houston at home this weekend, then has a trio of winnable skirmishes at Phoenix, San Antonio, and at Portland. Wins over the Nuggets and Rockets could move the Warriors up.

Minnesota is tied with the Clippers and Grizzlies with 32 losses, with each squad attempting to avoid the Play-In. The T-Wolves truly control their fate, facing Brooklyn (twice), Philadelphia, and Utah and playing at Milwaukee and at Memphis. A victory at adrift Memphis and a 5-1 record keep Minny safe.
